United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) is calling for innovative ideas fro individuals and organizations to combat desertification in the world through an opportunity to win the 2014 ‘Land for Life Award.’ The award function aims to raise awareness of the global benefits of soil generation and preservation, and promote understanding that the dry lands are part of the solution to today’s most pressing problems.
The competition will award total three Awards from total fund up to $100,000; a medal; free travel and accommodation to attend the award function (in case of underage recipient, an accompanying family member will also be financed for travel and accommodation; ‘Healthy Soils Gold Medal’ label to use on related products and communications; and UNCCD will make and publish a video of the winning projects.
- Any individual, institution, non-governmental organizations and civil society, private sector, academic andresearch organizations, policy makers, and journalists and media who has made a significant and innovative contribution to sustainable land management are eligible.
- Applicants can be of any race, gender, nationality, religious beliefs, political views or geographical location.
- Applications can be made direct or by third party explaining the activity and its result
- One institution can nominate as many third-party applications as they like. Self nomination is also accepted.
