Nigeria’s foremost Mobile Health (mHealth) mobile App that was lunched earlier in the year came out as second runner up in the just concluded British Council Nigeria Enterprise Challenge.

The App which is aimed at increased Maternal Care for nursing mothers around the world has also been nominated for two international competitions: World Summit Youth Awards(emerging among the finalists) and UN-based World Summit Award Mobile (representing Nigeria).

OMOMI sends SMS to mothers and another relative for due immunization dates, monitors baby’s growth by comparing growth with the expected for the child’s age and perform other child health functions. The App which is particularly useful for busy first time mothers, as it will improve breast feeding, giving useful tips on breast feeding and various breast feeding techniques.

Charles Akhimen as co-founder as well as Emmanuel Owobu (a Nigerian who is a certified healthcare innovator and entrepreneur from Duke University) and Raman Anurag (an Indian Computer Science graduate from Indian Institute of Technology)
